The Maharashtra government on Friday told the Bombay High Court it has formed a special task force comprising plastic manufacturers' associations, experts, and government officials to come up with a solution to put an end to plastic use in the state.

On March 23 this year, the government had issued a notification, imposing a ban on the manufacture, use, sale, distribution and storage of all plastic materials like one-time-use bags, spoons, plates, PET and PETE bottles and also thermocol items.
