Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024: Police issues traffic advisory for Jan 21

Ahead of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024, Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory and shared a complete list of traffic diversions and road closures in parts of city on January 21.


In a traffic notification, the police said, on January 15, 2023 Tata Marathon-2023 is being organised in Mumbai. Thereare seven different categories in the Marathon that includes Full Marathon (Amateurs), Half Marathon, 10K Run, Full Marathon Elite, Champion with Disability Run, Senior Citizens Run and Dream Run.


The Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024 routes include many parts of Mumbai including south Mumbai from MRA, Azad Maidan, Kalbadevi, D.B. Marg, Malbar Hill, Worli, Bandra, Dadar and Mahim Traffic Divisions, the police said.


It said, in order to provide a free way for Marathon runners, traffic on the Mumbai Marathon route is being diverted on January 21, 2024 between 03:00 hrs to 1"15 hrs by making an alternate arrangement of traffic.

During Marathon Run the below mentioned roads would be closed between 03-00 hrs. to 14.00 hrs. However, emergency and essential service vehicles shall be allowed to go through additional lane, adjoining to the Marathon routes to the nearest junction, a Mumbai Traffic Police notification said.

The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply And Transport (BEST) on Friday said that some BEST bus services would be affected on Sunday, January 21 due to the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024.

The BEST said that due to Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024 on Sunday, some BEST buses operations on some routes will be affected between 05.15 am and 1.30 pm.

It said that since the main routes of the Marathon is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus – Hutatma Chowk – Churchgate – Marine Drive - Peddar Road - Haji Ali - Bandra Worli Sea Link - Mahim - Prabhadevi, the Traffic restrictions will be imposed on the route. The operations on these routes would be diverted to Sion- Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marg- J. J. Hospital - Wadi Bandar- P'dmelo Road Marg and Sion- Mahim-Senapati Bapat Marg- Dr. E. Moses Road - Mahalakshmi- Saat Rasta- The Bus routes no. A-100, A-105, A-106, A-108, A-112 and A-113, A-123, 155 would be temporarily postponed or diverted.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024, the Western Railway on Wednesday said that it will run additional Mumbai local trains for the convenience of the people.

In a statement, the Western Railway said, "For the convenience of participants attending the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024 to be held on Sunday, 21st January, 2024, Western Railway will run three additional special slow Mumbai Local Trains in the early morning of 21st January, 2024, from Virar to Churchgate, Borivali to Churchgate and Churchgate to Bandra.

The Western also shared the details of the addition services. It said that the first special Mumbai local train service will start at 2:15 am. The special train from Borivali will start at 3:05 am and the third special train will depart from Churchgate at 3 am. All these trains will a run as slow local trains and would halt at all stations on the line, the Western Railway said.
