The 13-year-old boy from Meerut who sent a hoax bomb threat to an Air Canada flight is now being counselled. The teenager told the police he had wanted to test their efficiency, and so sent a fake bomb threat to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. He was influenced by media reports about the police apprehending someone for making a bomb threat about a Mumbai-bound flight.

“Delhi airport received a threat mail, in which the sender stated that a bomb had been planted inside the aircraft, and it could blow up at any time. A case was registered in the matter and we started an investigation,” said IGI Airport Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangnani.
