The city`s lake levels this year dipped below five per cent compared to previous years, largely due to an early end to the monsoon and intense heat. Currently, the stock sits at 85 per cent, whereas in 2021 and 2022, it remained at 90 per cent. However, the city will face a 10 per cent water cut for 15 days, starting next Monday, as a result of ongoing repairs at Pise Weir.

Within 45 days after the rainy season officially ended, lake levels plummeted by 15 per cent. The city sources water from seven lakes with a combined capacity of 14.47 lakh million litres, providing a daily supply of 3850 million litres. By September 30, the lakes were at their maximum capacity, totalling 99.23 per cent, surpassing levels from previous years. Presently, they hold 12.33 lakh million litres, accounting for 85 per cent of the total stock, while in 2022 it was 13.03 lakh ML, and in 2021 it stood at 12.90 lakh ML.
