Thane: Balcony collapses in chawl, 30 rescued after being trapped for hours

A balcony collapse at a two-storey chawl in Thane trapped 30 residents, all of whom were safely rescued by fire officials. Officials said that no one was injured and all the people trapped inside were safely evacuated

A balcony of a two-storey chawl collapsed in Maharashtra`s Thane district. The unfortunate incident which happened at Thane trapped 30 residents who were later rescued, officials said on Sunday.

The Thane Municipal Corporation`s disaster management cell chief, Yasin Tadvi, while informing about the incident, asserted that no one was injured and all the people trapped inside were safely evacuated by the authorities. As per the reports, the incident took place at 11.36 pm on Saturday at Savalaram Smriti Chawl (row tenement) in the Diva area.
