Detonator probe leads to two bag thieves, original owner still unknown

The arrested duo claim they stole the bag and abandoned it on seeing its contents

The Kalyan Government Railway Police’s (GRP) investigation into the bag full of detonators found near the Kalyan railway station have led to a twist in the tale. The police have arrested two history sheeters who claim that they had stolen the bag from someone else, and fled on seeing its contents. The plastic bag containing 54 explosive detonators was found outside the station at around 11.30 am on Thursday. The GRP subsequently registered a case and initiated investigations into the matter.  

According to GRP officials, the arrested accused have identified as Joy David Kalawa alias Naidu, 23, a resident of Badlapur, and Rishikesh Devidas Nikumbh, 25, a resident of Bhiwandi. The police said that Kalawa has four past cases against him registered with the Dharavi police station, while Nikumbh has two cases with the Thane police.
