In Thane district, a fire ravaged a flat situated on the 18th floor of a building, confirmed officials on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 2:15 am on Monday in a 22-storey building located at Kashigaon in the Mira Road area. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported despite the intensity of the blaze, stated Yasin Tadvi, chief of Thane Municipal Corporation`s disaster management cell, in a report in PTI.

The fire started from an earthen lamp lit for a religious ritual, igniting a cloth on a nearby table. This sparked a rapid spread of flames throughout the apartment. The occupants swiftly evacuated, ensuring their safety, the report added.
