Thane: Man booked for power theft of Rs 4.19 lakh after companies complaint

Thane police booked a 38-year-old man from Mumbra for allegedly stealing electricity worth Rs 4.19 lakh by bypassing his meter. The theft spanned nearly a year, with 18,214 units illegally drawn. Case registered under the Indian Electricity Act, investigation ongoing

In a major breakthrough, Thane Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly stealing electricity valued at Rs 4.19 lakh, officials said on Monday, October 13.

As reported by news agency PTI, the private power-supplying company's vigilance team carried out an inspection of the accused's premises at Kausa in the Mumbra area on October 10. During the investigation the officials discovered a theft, and further proceedings were done in accordance with the law, as per the officials.
