The Thane Municipal Corporation has started issuing notices to bulk solid waste generators, who generate more than 100 kg of waste daily, asking them to treat their own waste. The process to issue notices started on Thursday after the same was decided during the Swachh Bharat Mission review meeting on December 21 (Wednesday).
A TMC official said, “There are around 150 commercial bulk waste generators here and we have already sent notices to 70 such establishments including wedding halls, hotels and commercial complexes.” These establishments are given 25 days to comply, failing which action will be taken.
