Shahnawaz Shaikh, a three-year-old boy, died after he fell in an open gutter last evening.

The incident took place at around 7 pm while Shaikh was playing outside his house at Indira Nagar in Mankhurd.

According to police, the boy's parents started searching for him after he didn't return home.

"It was a passer-by who then alerted them. Shaikh was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital but was declared dead on arrival." Two days ago, Ayub Shaikh, 3, also fell in a manhole.

Although the BMC and the fire brigade officials did all they could, they still couldn't find the boy.

On Dec 15, Hrishikesh Gupta, another three-year-old boy, died after falling inside a manhole on the Mira-Bhayander Road.
