There were two deaths due to cardiac arrest reported from the Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) in the last two days.

Yesterday in the morning, Munnilal Gupta (50), a Patna-bound passenger, was scheduled to fly by IndiGo Airlines when he suddenly collapsed during security check.
The MIAL doctor who rushed to the spot declared him dead. Though Gupta, who had come to see his son studying in IIT-B had minor heart issues, he was apparently fit to fly.
He was to fly to Patna by IndiGo&rsquo;s 6E 178 (Mumbai to Patna via Delhi) that takes off at 9.25 am and lands in Patna at around 1.55 pm. Airport officials revealed that at around 8.15 am, Gupta collapsed in the Security Hold Area (SHA). The airport staff called for the on-duty MIAL doctor. As part of the attempts to revive the passenger, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was continuously given to Gupta. It was when all attempts to revive the passenger failed, that the MIAL doctor declared him dead due to cardiac arrest at around 8.50 am. The airport police officials completed the panchnama and the body was sent to Cooper Hospital for post mortem.
Sushant Kumar Gupta, Munnilal&rsquo;s son, who is pursuing his PhD from IIT-B explained, &ldquo;My father had arrived on December 22 to meet me and was on his way back to our hometown Chhapra. Though he had minor heart issues a decade back, he wasn&rsquo;t restricted from flying.&rdquo;
Another death In another case, a 57-year-old passenger Tarini Roy, who was to depart to Bagdogra on Sunday, fell unconscious in the check-in area of terminal 1B. Roy, also an IndiGo passenger, was accompanied by his wife.
The MIAL doctors who rushed to the spot referred Roy to Nanavati Hospital, after giving first aid. The passenger was taken to the hospital in a GVK ambulance. &ldquo;CPR was done and oxygen was continuously given to the patient, but he couldn&rsquo;t be revived. He was then declared to be dead on arrival by Nanavati hospital. Roy died due to cardiac arrest,&rdquo; said an airport official.
