Patil, a counsellor with Vikas Navnirman Sanstha, an NGO associated with MSACS (Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society), succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

On March 17, Patil was returning home around 12:30 am when he saw three men consuming alcohol on the road at Varsha Nagar, Vikhroli. He asked them to go somewhere else.

However, the trio got angry and then allegedly attacked him with a bamboo stick till he was unconscious. They then stole Rs5,330 and his mobile phone from his bag and fled from the spot.
