Two conmen posing as police officers duped a 79-year-old woman and fled with gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh in Vile Parle West. The Juhu police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. The complainant, Vasumati Shah, a resident of Amrut Nivas building in Vile Parle West, was targeted near her residence on May 21 around 1 pm.

According to police officials, Shah was standing on the road when two unidentified men approached her. A police officer said, “They engaged the victim in conversation and advised her to keep her jewellery safe. Claiming to be police officers, they distracted her and managed to remove two gold bangles — each weighing about three tolas — from her wrist before fleeing the spot.”
