Infections among children this time similar to earlier waves; paediatricians say parents must look for post-Covid symptoms

Experts believe that the cases among kids are underreported due to poor testing and self-tests by many families
While experts had predicted more children to be affected in the third wave, the state data shows the infection rate among kids is still low. However, experts stress the need to watch out for post-Covid symptoms even if a child is asymptomatic.
According to numbers shared by the state health department, Covid-19 infection rate among children is only one per cent in the third wave. Paediatricians believe most of the cases in children are underreported due to limited testing in this age group and many families are doing self-tests without revealing the results.
