With increased daily tests, Mumbai records 494 COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

COVID-19 cases in the city and the state increased again on Friday with increased testing.

COVID-19 cases in the city and the state increased again on Friday with increased testing. For the last four days, the number of cases in the city was less due to lesser tests. On Thursday, the number of tests rose to 16,428, out of which 494 tests turned positive. Earlier, the number of tests had been between 11,000 and 14,000.

The state, on the other hand, recorded 56 deaths, out of which 29 were reported in Pune circle. Although the city recorded more cases, the number of deaths remained low. The city’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) — positive cases among 100 tests — on Friday was 3 per cent, higher than the 2.6 per cent on Saturday and Sunday.
