Hundreds of students assembled at Ashok Mill Naka in Dharavi to demand cancellation of offline board exams for Std X and XII, on Monday, a police officer said. They had planned to protest outside state education minister Varsha Gaikwad’s residence, however, police used mild lathicharge and stopped them.
 
The students argued against holding the board exams in person, saying they had studied online due to Covid-19 restrictions. They demanded that the HSC and SSC exams be held online. As the students started to move towards the minister’s residence in the vicinity, police responded with a mild baton charge to stop them.
