The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, however boycotted the traditional tea party, accusing Eknath Shinde-led government of sparking social tensions over reservation and misleading the Maratha community, PTI reported

Leader of Opposition in Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar accused the government of encouraging criminalisation of politics and triggering social tensions over reservation and misleading the Maratha community for its "own selfish political interest", reported PTI

However, in the press conference ahead of the budget session, CM Eknath Shinde took a stern stand against Maratha activist Manoj Jarange for repeatedly protesting despite the government allotting 10 per cent reservation to Maratha community

The situation turned aggressive after Maratha activist Manoj Jarange on Sunday made accusations that Maharashtra`s Deputy chief minister is trying to kill him and sabotaging the Maratha community`s protest

Earlier this week, the Maharashtra legislature unanimously passed a bill providing 10 per cent reservation for the Marathas under a separate category, but Jarange is firm on his demand for quota for the community under the Other Backward Class category

Manoj Jarange announced that he would march to Mumbai and protest outside Devendra Fadnavis; official residence `Sagar bunglow` at Malabar Hill, Mumbai. Addressing a gathering, Jarange claimed that Fadnavis was trying to defame him by roping in people to malign his image 

Eknath Shinde also took a jibe at the oppositions saying," I wonder why Jarange`s speech looks like the script generally used by Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray"

The week-long Budget session of the legislature begins on Monday during which the vote on account will be presented. Assembly elections are due in the state later this year
