<p style="text-align: justify;">Parambir Singh was appointed as the new commissioner of Mumbai Police after former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve retired from the post of city's chief cop on Saturday, Feb 29, 2020. A 1988 batch officer, Parambir Singh in his 32 years of service has been SP of Chandrapur and Bhandara, DCP west zone Mumbai, Additional CP ATS, Thane police commissioner, ADG (Law &amp; order) and DG Anti-Corruption Bureau, Maharashtra.</p>

Parambir Singh was appointed as the new commissioner of Mumbai Police after former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve retired from the post of city's chief cop on Saturday, Feb 29, 2020. <p style="text-align: justify;">Parambir Singh was serving as the Director-General (DG) of the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) when his appointment was announced.&nbsp; Earlier in the day, departing Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve was given a rousing farewell reception by the city&rsquo;s police force at the Naigaon Police headquarters in Dadar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Parambir Singh's appointment came a day after state Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh ruled out granting a third extension to Sanjay Barve. The former Mumbai Police Commissioner was earlier granted three-month extensions on two occasions.</p>

I feel humbled to have been selected for this job. I will continue the good works done by my predecessors."</p>
