Seven activists of a political party were arrested by the Khadak police on Monday for allegedly threatening an officer of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) on Shankar Sheth Road.

According to the Khadak police, around 12.30 pm on Monday, the activists had gone to the SWD office to submit a letter of demands. Bhimrao Khandate (49), who is the divisional officer at the Caste Verification Cell of SWD, received the letter.

Assistant Police Inspector D S Bhalsingh said, "Khandate told the activists that their demands would be discussed in the committee meeting soon. But they were not satisfied with the reply given by Khandate."

They then threatened Khandate with dire consequences and abused him before leaving the office, said Bhalsingh.
