With former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh as grandfather and prominent Jat leader Chaudhary Ajit Singh as his father, Jayant Chaudhary could not have asked for a more formidable legacy to live up to. The 32-year-old Lok Sabha MP from Mathura, however, has his eye on the ultimate goal-defeating the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP Assembly elections are round the corner. Do you think realignment in the state politics is still a possibility?
The Mayawati-led regime has topped the charts of corruption and misrule. People are fed up with the loot by the state exchequer. The Rashtriya Lok Dal is poised to perform exceptionally in the forthcoming elections and is increasingly becoming a pan-UP force to reckon with. We are open to like-minded parties joining us to defeat the Bahujan Samaj Party.
