The Centre on Thursday said the efficacy of one dose of Covid-18 vaccine in preventing deaths was 96.6 per cent and that of two doses was 97.5 per cent. A press release by the Union health ministry said the efficacy was based on the analysis of vaccination data from April 18 to August 15, reported the Indian Express. “This vaccine protective effectiveness was among all age groups,” India Today quoted Dr Balram Bhargava, DG ICMR, as saying.
The Centre also said that 58 per cent of India’s adult population has received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 18 per cent got both the shots.
