A 13-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself at the residence of his maternal uncle at Jalgaon's Tukaramwadi on Tuesday afternoon. According to a report in the Times of India, on checking his cellphone activity the police found that among his online searches was a website that claims to predict a person's time of death.

Police officials said that the boy was alone at his uncle's house when he allegedly took the extreme step. He was declared brought dead at the Jalgaon civil hospital.

Vishal Sonawane, sub-inspector at MIDC police station in Jalgaon, said, "While we are investigating other possible angles to the suicide, we suspect some things on the website could have influenced the boy to take the extreme step."

The boy had come to his uncle's place about four months back. In his statement to the police, the uncle said that the boy used to be glued to his cellphone, which he was using for online classes, and never went out to play.

The police are finding out since when the boy had the cellphone. The boy's father in Dhule and his uncle in Jalgaon run laundry stalls, a police officer said.
