Priya (name changed), a 15-year-old student of J S S High School in Banashankari, was allegedly kidnapped and raped for 11 months by Narendra Kumar, a cab driver

According to K Narraj, inspector of Subramanyapura police station, Pooja, a Class VIII of student, got acquainted with Kumar, her classmate's brother.u00a0

Forcible marriage

On March 25, last year, when she was returning home, Kumar intercepted her near Hari Nagar bus stop and forced her in an autorikshaw on pretext of dropping her home. He later took the vehicle to his relative's house in Siddapura, a town in Coorgand forcibly married Pooja in a local temple and allegedly raped her the same night.

The ordeal for Pooja continued for 11 months until she managed to contact her grandfather from a mobile phone.u00a0

Not allowed out

"I used to beg him to let me go home but he not listen. In fact, he threatened to kill me if I did not cooperate with him. I wasn't allowed to venture out of the house and wasn't even allowed to talk to anybody," Pooja told the police.

Inspector Nagaraj said, "The girl could have eloped with the accused but as she is minor, we have registered a kidnapping case against him."
