The Crime Branch arrested two Satara-based youths who allegedly had burgled a mobile phone shop at Marketyard in the city and also stolen laptops from a mobile education van in Solapur. The police recovered seven laptops, 14 mobile handsets and a projector from them.
The suspects were identified as Shivaji Kisan Doltade (21) and Tulshiram Ramdas alias Pappu Gorad (22).
According to Police Inspector Suresh Kekane, the two suspects were arrested from Swargate station area after a tip-off.
The police said the two had confessed to the burglary at the Marketyard shop and to stealing laptops from the mobile education van in Solapur.
"The items recovered from the suspects are 14 mobile handsets, seven laptops and a projector worth Rs 1.75 lakh," Kekane said. "We suspect their involvement in other crimes too."
In another case, the rural police arrested Wakad resident Uttam Dayaram Kuder (26) with a pistol and three live cartridges. He was taken into custody from Dehu Road area near Kivale bridge. The police said Kuder hailed from Madhya Pradesh.
