No suicide note found on victim's person or at her house; police believe woman was suffering from depression for several years
A housewife committed suicide by jumping from the 15th floor of an Andheri building in the wee hours of yesterday. The police said that while the woman’s family was asleep, she came out of her flat and jumped into the duct between the building’s elevators. MIDC police have registered a case of suicide and suspect depression may have driven her to take the extreme step.
The deceased, identified as Usha Rao lived with her husband Nagesh (60) on the 15th floor of Kalpataru Estate in Andheri (E). Nagesh owns a pathology lab in Bandra (W). Police said that Usha was suffering from depression and was on medication. Usha stayed at home while her husband was at work. She would often go to her relative’s house, and sometimes visit her hometown in Bangalore to spend time with family, a source said.
