But the garden, which is spread in an area of over 8,000 sq feet, is being opened daily for the general public and is being maintained by a caretaker that has been appointed by the PMC. Santosh Kamble, assistant garden supervisor, said, "We have appointed Ramesh Salunkhe to take care of the garden."

However, Salunkhe said that he was last appointed as the garden supervisor of the garden two years ago and has now been transferred to another garden. "The park is very small and a couple of attempts made by the PMC to maintain its lawns have failed," Salunkhe said.

Since 1997

While Bhanudas Mane, chief of civic garden department, acknowledged that the name of the garden is missing from the list even though it is being maintained by the PMC. "We have spent Rs 3-4 lakh to construct the compound wall of the garden last year. Also, we are in the process of renovating it. Once the work is completed, we'll include it in our list of gardens."

It is said that the garden was initially developed by Kondhwa Grampanchayat and came under the PMC only in 1997 when 23 villages located on the periphery of the city were merged with the PMC.
