<p><strong>Age cannot be a criteria to shortlist govt job seekers, rules High Court</strong><br /><br />The competency of a candidate for a particular job can only be decided on the basis of his/her educational qualification, experience or marks obtained in an examination or interview and not by the age.<br /><br />

Unfortunately, age has nothing to do either with merit or competence," a Delhi High Court bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur and AK Pathak held.<br /><br />The judgement came on a petition against the decision by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to shortlist the applicants for teaching jobs in the OBC category. <br /><br />The court rejected the MCD decision as "unconstitutional and violative of fundamental rights of others who were not shortlisted". </p>
