Cottonpet police bust child trafficking gang
Cottonpet police arrested seven persons for involvement in child trafficking racket at the City Railway Station today morning.
u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0After the MiD DAY sting operation blew the lid off the child trafficking racket at the railway station and in various other parts of the city, Children Welfare Committee (CWC) lodged a complaint with the Cottonpet police station yesterday.u00a0u00a0
u00a0u00a0 On instructions from DCP (West) K Shivakumar, a special police team under the guidance of ACP (Kengeri Gate) T D Durgaiah, was formed. The team led byu00a0Cottonpet police inspector K P Gopalu00a0busted the gang involved in clandestine sale of children to hotels in the city.
u00a0u00a0u00a0 The arrested are Ravi alias Nagesh (30), Raje Gowda (45), Shankara alias Narasimhaiah (42), Rajesh (42), Gururaja alias Manjunath (25), Raja alias Karibasava (34), and Raja alias Adaviappa (44). They have been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and the Indian Penal Code, and will be produced before the court today.
