Aura Deli, a new cake and pastry outlet at Powai, is at best a decent take-away counter
For many years now, Rodas Ecotel, the flagship hotel by the Hiranandani Group, has been instrumental in adding to the opulence of the commercial and residential complex created by the construction group. Aura Deli, which launched a fortnight ago, is the latest addition to the hotel's restaurant list that includes other popular haunts like Parabola, Far East and Aura Restobar.

Ambience: Since the deli shares its name with one of the first nightspots in the area, it is located right outside the restobar, with a simple display counter.u00a0 The seating area consists of a couple of sofas strewn around and a few tables and chairs placed at the entrance, an idea which backfires, as club-goers stare you down while you dig into the grub. Adding to the discomfort is the fact that there are no fans or any other mode of ventilation, leaving you feeling rather suffocated by the end of the meal. As for music, all you can hear is fleeting sounds being played inside the restobar every time a guest enters or leaves the place.
Food: The deli serves variety of pastries and sandwiches, as well as set meals. Since we'd dropped in around dinnertime, we decided to try out the Lasagna Torte (Rs 70) and the Roast Chicken (Rs 70) set meals. But the hostess was adamant to change our mind, as she kept dissuading us, saying it would take long to warm up the food! We held our own and an attendant,u00a0 finally, agreed to serve us our order.
