BBMP commissioner will personally monitor your calls this monsoon
BBMP commissioner Bharat Lal Meena is at your beck and call this monsoon.
Meena, who assumed charge on June 15, is personally monitoring rain-related calls through an intra-voice recording system that has been set up on a trial basis at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's Malleswaram office since the last two months.

People can record their complaints round the clock which will then be accessed by over 700 BBMP officials, including the commissioner, through walkie-talkies.
"He has decided to extend the service as it's an effective way to reach out to people and solve their monsoon problems," said Dr S Khandre, public relations officer, BBMP. "Every day, he listens to people who have registered a complaint and acts based on the gravity of the issue."
The system will also help check delays since people can complain about lackadaisical officers.
Reactions to the system have been varied. Professor M N Srihari, an infrastructure expert and a resident of Vijaynagar, has been all praise but former mayor Mumtaz Begum is skeptical.
She feels that for the system to be effective, it has to be implemented immediately.
Moreover, "the commissioner has to be in touch with people consistently since only then can he address issues that arise during the monsoon season," she added.
