Dinebari Debari alias Daniel, a Nigerian national, did his education in managing disasters. However, it all turned on its head when Debari proved a disaster himself for the society at large.

The Nigerian student had come to India in 2003 to pursue further studies in India and planned to do a correspondence course at Annamalai University. He went to one of the varsity centres in New Delhi and asked for the course details. He returned to Nigeria and then again came to India three years later in 2006.

However, from a student seeking opportunities in higher education, Dinebari had turned into a drug peddler by now. He was arrested by the Delhi Police and was sent to jail for two years. After being freed in 2008, the Nigerian national has been arrested again with 1.011 Kg of fine quality cocaine.

"We arrested a person named Sanjeev with 4 Kg of heroin on November 3. When we traced the racket it led us to Debari. The approximate value of cocaine recovered from Debari is Rs 2 crore in the international market. We have recovered more than 5 kg cocaine from both accused which costs Rs 10 crore in the international market.
They were planning to sell the contraband in Delhi and neighbouring states. Department of Revenue Intelligence had arrested Debari with drugs in 2006. He visited India every five months after being released from the jail in 2008," said a police officer.

The sleuths are now searching for the rest of the gang members and they are interrogating the accused.
"These people might be a carrier of a gang, we are investigating the source of the cocaine and will crack the whole racket very soon," the officer added.

Around 870 gm of cocaine worth Rs 1 crore, which was being sent to other countries through courier services, was seized by officials of the Pune Customs' narcotics in October this year. Ogonna Philip Nwuchukwu (27), a Nigerian national, currently residing in New Delhi, has been arrested in this connection.
According to officials of the customs preventive unit of the Pune customs commissionerate, Nwuchukwu used Pune as a base to shift cocaine consignments to other countries. Earlier too, he had sent consignments to South Africa and Seychelles through courier agencies in Pune. Each time he sent a consignment, he used a different courier service.
This time the drug was being sent by Nwuchukwu to Australia, Canada and Indonesia. According to officials, the value of the drugs would be in the range of Rs 4 to Rs 5 crore on the international market.
