They serve comfort food at comfort prices.u00a0 The Rajdhani Utsav thali, priced at Rs 260 (including taxes), has all the staples rotla, dal, subzi and all the festive foods. There are 32 delicacies to dig into, from the dahi wada to the puran poli and from the dal batti churma to spinach kichdi. Local, seasonal foods are highlighted. The vegetables cauliflower, lady's finger, pumpkin, baby potatoes, carrots u2013 are tender and tasty. There's no overcooking, oversalting, undercooking or underflavouring. The rotlas are hot, the curries and gravies are plentiful and the service is pleasant and efficient.u00a0 Talking of service, they have perfected the art of pampering patrons. A waiter ceremoniously pours warm water to help you wash your hands before and after the meal. Another rushes to your side with a fluffy hand towel and the rest keep encouraging you to "eat well" as they refill your thali. Between bites of daal batti churma a spicy dal served with wheat dumplings, crumbled jaggery and desi ghee, you also get to indulge in celebrity spotting.u00a0 Vani Ganapathy, looking ravishing in white trousers and white shirt, daintly picked at her meal, while her companion studied the menu with intense concentration.u00a0 Taking the concept of comfort food one step further, Rajdhani also offers 'tiffin' boxes. The Bada Meal Pack has farsan, sabjis, rice, dal, kadhi, rotlas, desserts, papad, pickle and salad. The contents, in spill-proof containers, are tucked into a sturdy cardboard box. Talk of transforming humble foods into something hip and cool! There's an abridged version of this pack, which is displayed on the counter.
