Inquiry set up for Tawang chopper crash

A committee of inquiry was set up on Saturday to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash of a Pawan Hans helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh even as the chopper company declared interim compensation for relatives of the 17 people killed and those injured.

A committee of inquiry was set up on Saturday to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash of a Pawan Hans helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh even as the chopper company declared interim compensation for relatives of the 17 people killed and those injured. A three-member committee, headed by Air Marshal (retd) PP Rajkumar, and comprising of Air Commodore (retd) Rai Krishan and Wing Commander (retd) Rabinder Singh.

DGCA's deputy director (air safety) MJ Singh would be its secretary, and the committee will investigate all aspects of the accident and submit a report within three months, an official spokesperson revealed. Seventeen of the 23 people on board the Mi-172 helicopter of the state-owned Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited were killed in the crash near the helipad in Tawang on Tuesday.
