Authorities to set up BPO facility so locals can register their complaints and grievances

It seems the Noida administration is working overtime to spruce up the image of its officers. In a move to make the entire governmental process transparent and fast, the authority has come up with a plan to set up a dedicated call centre wherein citizens can register their complaints as well as get information from different government departments.

In the first phase, this facility will be extended to seven departments which include revenue, development, supply, social welfare, education, health and electricity. Thirty people can simultaneously either register their complaints or seek information from the department.

The number for the call centre is 0120-2555500. Vishal Singh, SDM of Noida Sadar, said: "This step was taken to ease the problems of people residing in the city. There are civic and other issues which need to be sorted out. Since citizens are busy with their daily schedules, they don't get time to come forward and narrate their problems. But with this facility, we are just a phone call away."

"We hope with this new system, citizens' participation will increase. In the later phase, the facility will be extended to other departments also," Singh added.

When a person makes a call, he will be given an option to choose betweens government departments. After selecting the option, the caller will be asked his name, address and the area from where he is calling. Then the complaint or information sought will be recorded and a number will be given. The caller will be asked again to call back after three days quoting that number and the information will be provided to the complainant.

Building bridges

Starting 2011, Noida authority will spend Rs 10,000 crore on development over the next five years. The projects include four bridges over river Yamuna, two major road corridors with flyovers, underpasses and signal-free traffic, besides links to the Delhi-Mumbai freight corridor, Eastern Peripheral and Upper Ganga expressways.
The focus is also on creation and upgrade of services such as a bus rapid transit system (BRTS), Metro rail, water, electricity, drainage and solid waste management. The two major road corridors will be 130 m wide to facilitate the BRT plan.
