File pic Subsequent to MiD DAY yesterday reporting the matter (&lsquo;Illegal quarry flourishes on 40 acres of govt land&rsquo;), tehsildar Baburao Pawar has said that a third revenue notice would be issued to the operator, Gullu Ghai, and he would have to pay a heavy penalty to theu00a0government.u00a0 A Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) report, a copy of which is with MiD DAY, states that the air pollution control arrangements at the site do not live up to the requirements of the Air (P&amp;CP) Act, 1981. Farmers say ever since the crushers appeared on scene, adverse effects have become visible on their fields and livestock. The dust is making the soil infertile and killing the animals, claim locals. Speaking to MiD DAY, Pawar said, &ldquo;We had sent him (Ghai) two revenue notices regarding the issue but have not got reply. Now we are going to take firm action by slapping another notice. He would have to reply to that and then we would take further action. I have also ordered the talathi to put a stop to all the quarry work immediately.&rdquo; According to the information we got from the tehsildar, Ghai would have to pay Rs 1,67,054 to the government. &ldquo;I have also ordered for collect of information on Gullu Ghai in Daund. If he fails to reply to notice and does not pay up, we will seize and seal all his property and the entire amount will be collected by auctioning those properties,&rdquo; Pawar added.
