Some shopkeepers from Richmond Town and Shantinagar, who are also big Obama fans, were scheduled to perform a pooja for their idol today.
"The rituals are for change," said Ramesh Yadav, president of the shopkeepers' welfare association. "We hope Obama will do it. The rituals planned will strengthen him to address issues like terrorism effectively," he said.
The members had earlier performed yagnas for world peace and Chandrayan's success.
"We and some other fans pray to the almighty to strengthen him so that he can establish peace world wide.
We also wish his policies create more job opportunities to Indians," he added.
Select rituals, which his sun sign Gemini require will be performed.
"The rituals aim at strengthening Obama. It will help him address the problems the IT sector is facing worldwide," said Satyanarayan Rao, head priest, Ganesha temple, Shantinagar, where the poojas and yagnas will be held throughout the day.
