Mamata Banerjee and party MP Mukul Roy had to wait for two hours at Delhi airport after their Kolkata-bound flight made an emergency landing

The union ministers had to keep waiting as arrangements were made. The aircraft landed after 45 minutes of its departure at 8.15 pm as it developed some technical snag. The AI-680 flight took off at 8.15 pm only to return at 9 pm, said sources at the airport.

Banerjee, Roy and other passengers had to wait for almost two hours after the flight landed safely. Air India officials went into tizzy after they came to know about the presence of two ministers in the aircraft. "Another flight was arranged immediately which took off at around 11 pm," officials said.

Past imperfect

A private chopper carrying Mamata Banerjee took off from Dhanekhali on May 5, 2009 and due to bad weather landed at Kolkata airport in emergency conditions. Banerjee was on her general election campaign in the state in 2009.
