Wendell Rodricks and Jerome Marrel were married in Goa via PACS, a French civil ceremony in 2003. Earlier, gay activist Ashok Row Kavi wrote an article on how the marriage would affect homosexuals' rights.

What he said: ''Wendell and Jerome could go to jail for 10 years, or even for life."u00a0Kavi, in the article.

Status now: In July 2009, the Delhi High Court struck down the provision in Section 377, which criminalises
homosexual, consensual sex between adults in private. Wendell and Jerome have been partners for over 25 years.
