Mayank Kumar, a student of the GSRM Memorial Degree College, was assaulted by four senior students of the institute on Wednesday in the Sarojini Nagar town.
A police complaint was filed late Wednesday evening by Kumar against the four third year nursing students.
"We have already detained one of the students who assaulted Mayank Kumar. The student is out of danger. In assistance with the college authorities, we have initiated an enquiry," police inspector AK Dwivedi said here.
In the complaint, Kumar has alleged that his seniors - Gyan Prakash, Rahul Pandey, Deepak and Amresh - forced him to stop outside the campus and later directed him to collect money from the passers-by by touching their feet.
As Kumar refused, they started beating him on the road. Later, Kumar was taken to a hospital by some locals.
College chairman Manoj Kumar said: "Stern action would be taken against the senior students, who have been accused of assaulting Mayank Kumar."
