The truth behind the CM's rain dance

The real motive behind BSY's temple visit in Tamil Nadu was not to pray for rain, but for himselfu00a0

The chief minister's temple visits to Tamil Nadu seem to have more to do with saving his skin rather than a monsoon-deprived state.u00a0u00a0u00a0

Of late, B S Yeddyurappa has been facing dissent within his cabinet. In fact, astrologers have predicted trying times for the CM next month.

"The main purpose behind his visit was to seek Lord Shanishwara's blessings in Thirunallar," a source said.

He also visited the Kumbeshwara temple at Kumbakonam and Nataraja temple in Chidambaram near Pondicherry.

"The CM should perform pujas at the Bhagamandala temple in Coorg for the rains," said Bhanuprakash Sharma, one of Yeddyuruppa's favoured astrologers.

"Praying in those places won't help the monsoon problem. He must have wanted to perform the Shani Shanthi which is why he went to Thirunallar and other places," he said, adding that he has asked Yeddyurappa to visit Coorg soon.u00a0

Satyanarayan Rao, another astrologer, explained the CM's choice of temples.u00a0

"The CM will have trouble from Shani till July 18 such as differences within the party, trouble from his own colleagues and threat to his post. People visit Thirunallar to ward off the planet's effects. Prayers at Shiva temples in Chidambaram and Kumbakonam help one to retain power," he said.
