When Anil Tyagi brought his 18-year-old daughter to the Yashoda Super Speciality hospital in Ghaziabad, she was battling for life.
"My daughter Bharti (name changed) consumed a poisonous substance by mistake. I rushed her to the hospital but in the garb of helpling her a doctor and compounder tried to rape my daughter," alleged Tyagi.
Bharti, 18, was admitted to the hospital in a critical state on Tuesday evening after she reported consumed a poisonous substance at her Ghaziabad residence in New Arya Nagar.
Tyagi claimed that on Wednesday morning a compounder, Javed, tried to rape Bharti at the ICU where she was being administered saline. "When my daughter protested, the doctor in-charge at the ICU, Anek Kumar, also supported Javed and called other staff to give her anaesthesia."
As soon as Bharti raised an alarm, the duo ran away from there, Tyagi claimed.
"We immediately registered a complaint at the Sihani Gate police station. If doctors will turn monsters, where the poor patients will go?," a miffed Tyagi asked.
Tyagi also alleged that the hospital owner threatened Bharti with dire consequences if she reported the incident.
The owner couldn't be contacted for a comment over the issue. However, an employee of the hospital told MiD DAY over phone, "We are being framed by the girl's family. Her relatives and friends from Krishna Institute of Engineering & Technology (KIET) ransacked the hospital."
Jafar and Dr Anek are under police custody. Rajesh Dwivedi, SO, Sihani Gate police station, said "The accused are being interrogated. We are yet to establish why and how the girl consumed poison."
