On Sunday, Rajya Sabha MP for the AAP Swati Maliwal expressed with grief that while members of her party had previously battled for Nirbhaya's justice, they were now endorsing an individual who was said to have abused her. Maliwal's party has accused her of being part of a plot to falsely indict Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a contrived case.

She stated, "Maybe things wouldn't have been so bad for me!" if Manish Sisodia, the AAP politician and former deputy chief minister, currently being held in connection with the Delhi excise police case, had been present.

Per a PTI report, Maliwal has claimed that on May 13, Bibhav Kumar, the chief minister's assistant, attacked her when she went to meet with Arvind Kejriwal at his home. Her claims have been denied by the Aam Aadmi Party, which also says that Maliwal was assisting the BJP in fabricating a case against Kejriwal.

There was a period when "we all used to come out on the streets to get justice for Nirbhaya," Maliwal, who has been a part of the AAP for more than ten years, told PTI.

"Today, 12 years later, we have come out on the streets to save the accused (Bibhav Kumar) who made the CCTV footage disappear and formatted the phone. I wish they had used this much force for Manish Sisodia Ji. Had he been here, maybe things wouldn't have been so bad for me!" she wrote.

Police have already arrested Kumar in connection with the case.
