Following the mishap which happened on Thursday, June 12, 2025, the officials from the British High Commission reached the domestic airport in Ahmedabad. The British High Commission officers were seen at the airport in the wake of a devastating plane crash that claimed the lives of 241 people aboard the Boeing 787-8, Air India flight 171, including 12 crew members, Air India confirmed post-midnight on Friday.

Campbell Wilson, who is the CEO and Managing Director of Air India, visited the accident site of the AI-171 plane in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Friday. While stating about the incident to the media, Wilson said, "The 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 aeroplane departed Ahmedabad at 1338 hours, carrying 230 passengers and 12 staff. The plane on its way to London crashed immediately after takeoff. We regret to inform you that there are 241 confirmed fatalities among the 242 passengers.” However, according to Air India, the single survivor is receiving treatment in a hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the early hours of Friday, also visited the scene of the Air India plane disaster. Upon his arrival in Ahmedabad, he then went to the Civil Hospital in the city to speak with those injured in the accident that occurred a day earlier.
