Unable to bear mounting medical expenses, an ailing 40-year-old man in Rajasthan built a pyre and lit it after sitting on it, police said Monday.

Giriraj Sharma had been suffering from an illness for many years. The incident took place in Baleta village in Alwar district, some 150 km from state capital Jaipur, a police official said.
