The central government on Tuesday said that a “historic milestone” was achieved on June 21 with the vaccination of 88.09 lakh people in a single day.
However, reports have emerged that states governed by the BJP had massively slowed down their daily Covid-19 vaccination ahead of the launch of the revised guidelines, which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month.

Madhya Pradesh (MP) administered the maximum number of doses at 16.9 lakh on June 21, followed by Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Assam.

According to a report in Scroll, after registering 3,38,847 doses on June 16, MP started reducing its daily vaccination from June 17 when 1,24,226 people were given anti-Coronavirus shots. A massive drop started on June 18 with only 14,862 vaccinations, followed 22,006 on June 19, and then merely 692 people were vaccinated on June 20.

Between June 13 and June 16, MP administered an average of 2,28,784 doses daily and the sharp decline over the next few days helped it save 12 lakh doses, according to Scroll.

Karnataka, which administered 11.21 lakh doses on June 21, had vaccinated only 68,172 on June 20. Gujarat increased its vaccination from 1,89,953 on June 20 to 5,10,434 on June 21.

Assam, which had gradually increased its daily vaccination and administered just 33,654 doses on June 20, saw a massive jump of 3,60,707 the next day.

Moreover, Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had claimed that India on Monday registered the “highest ever single day coverage across the” globe. However, according to reports, China had vaccinated over 1 crore people in the past month. A June 20 report in Hindu stated that China vaccinated an average of 1.7 crore people daily for the past 28 days.
