A student lost sight in his left eye after he was beaten by a school teacher in Jharkhand's Lohardagga district, an official said Monday.

Akash Kumar, a Class 7 student of Saraswati Sishu Mandir of Lohardagga district, about 70 km from here, was beaten with a stick by Anita Verma April 17. Akash's left eye was severely injured and doctors say that he will not recover his eyesight in his left eye as the retina was badly damaged.
