The CM has had three structures demolished a house, a milk dairy and a veterinary clinic ufffd that stood where the pond once existed.
The CM's efforts are said to be the result of a promise made to a Namboodari astrologer from Kerala.

The Namboodari reportedly advised Yeddyurappa to dig the pond if he wants to counter the threat posed by Tourism Minister Janardhan Reddy and his brother Revenue Minister Karunakar Reddy who had threatened to dislodge the government in November last year.
"The astrologer had declared that Yeddyurappa's position would become unshakable once he paid his respects to Someshwara Shiva.u00a0 The CM did as he was directed and the results were favourable.
The crisis has passed. In keeping with his promise to the astrologer, the CM began work on the pond two days ago. The entire cost of renovation is being borne by him," said a source at the Someshwara temple.
Yeddyurappa reportedly invited the Namboodari to the Vidhan Soudha in Bangalore on the advice of a leading Tamil Nadu politician.
It is in response to the CM's queries that the Namboodari suggested that the ancient Someshwara temple in Ulsoor be renovated in the ongoing month.
Residents confirmed that Yeddyurappa has been visiting the temple very often.
"The CM visited Someshwara before the renovation began. He was also here for the inauguration of the effort a week ago, and he also came two days ago to monitor the progress," said a local resident.
Bhojaraj, a member of the temple staff said, "To protect the CM's chair, BS Yeddyurappa had vowed to renovate a part of the temple. He is merely keeping his promise.
Thanks to Janardhan Reddy, our temple is getting renovated."
Sundar G, a devotee said, "CM Yeddyurappa came thrice to this temple in April. This shows he has some connection with the temple.
