The controversial housing project of Shahid Balwa's DB Realty on 53 hectares of land at Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) was cancelled by CM Pritviraj Chavan yesterday.

Balwa, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam, was given the contract two years ago by the state. Local Shiv Sena MPs Gajanan Babar and Shivajirao Patil had demanded the project be scrapped.

They also alleged Ajit Pawar and former CM Ashok Chavan were responsible for giving permission to Balwa, who would have earned Rs 3,000 crore from the project.PCNTDA CEO Suhas Divse said that he had not received any order so far.
