Smog, cold and rain grip capital as AQI remains in poor category

Delhi continued to reel under a cold wave on Friday as temperatures dropped to 5°C and light rain lashed parts of the city. A thick smog blanket kept air quality in the ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ category, with the overall AQI at 280 and several areas crossing 350, according to Central Pollution Control Board and India Meteorological Department.

The mercury dipped to 5 degrees Celsius in the national capital on Friday as cold weather continued, with rain lashing parts of the city, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A thick layer of smog also covered several areas, while air quality remained in the 'poor' to 'very poor' category across Delhi, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
