The Congress on Thursday claimed that a special session of Parliament is being considered next month to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. However it said this would be yet another classic exercise in "diversion and distraction" from more pressing issues by PM Modi.
Congress General Secretary in-charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, said that at a time when the BJP should be targeting Pakistan and terrorists for their actions, it is instead focused on attacking the Congress.
He further said that since the night of April 22, the Indian National Congress has been calling for an all-party meeting on the Pahalgam terror attack and its aftermath, to be chaired by PM Modi himself. That meeting has yet to take place, he noted.
